Ch 1 Laela’s Wound and a Brief History of the Subjugation of Women
“The world will be saved by Western women.”
Quote by the Dalai Lama, when he was speaking at the Vancouver Peace Summit in 2009
The Resurgence of the Feminine I am psychic, but I can only use my gift to help people to grow spiritually and to heal issues that are impeding their spiritual progress. In the healing sessions I give, I often witness the traumas of clients – some of which involve past lives. In Laela’s case, her past-life ordeal occurred during a period of history when hundreds of thousands of women were violated due to the persecution of the Church. For this reason, the story of Laela’s trauma is a part of a greater collective wound – and her healing is a part of that of all womankind.
As a psychic, I normally only see past events that are directly relevant to a client’s healing. However, in Laela’s case, the circumstances of what she went through were so important that I augmented my own subjective perceptions of them with some research. I have worked with numerous women who been through similar past-life experiences to Laela’s – so much so that they comprise a significant portion of all sessions I have given. This impels me all the more, to share Laela’s experience, and the historical context within which it occurred.
A Brief History of the Subjugation of Women
In the dawn of civilization, it was women who first learned to cultivate plants. This was the greatest innovation in human history. The surplus of food it created made possible the first urban societies. Because women were responsible for this gift, it should not be surprising that they held a cherished and sacred place in society and were relegated to its leadership. These farming cultures were organized around the Sacred Feminine. They were also responsible for other great inventions, such as the wheel used in ox carts for hauling grain, early metallurgy (for creating the plow for tilling the soil), ceramics, and the first simple writing system which was used for tallying grain. Central to their beliefs was the sacredness of fertility, sexuality, and the power of life.1 They honored the wisdom of the animals that were their brothers and sisters in the natural world. War was almost unheard of and they had lived in peace for over a thousand years.2 3
But then, fierce Patriarchal warrior tribes invaded from the central Asian steppes of the north, and the Syrian Deserts to the south. Because the peaceful feminine-oriented societies had no knowledge of the military or war, they were easily conquered.4
After subjugating them, the Patriarchy sought to consolidate its power by suppressing all the beliefs of the Sacred Feminine, and replacing them with those of the Patriarchy. This resulted in the persecution of feminine-oriented societies and of any women who dared to express her personal power.
One of those expressions was women’s sexuality. Since time immemorial, it had been worshipped as the sacred energy that creates life.5 Thus, it was central to the preeminence that women received in society.6 Because of that respect, all power and wealth was transferred through the bloodlines of women. For all of these reasons, women’s sexual power was key to the ascendent position of the female gender.
But that power was something that the Patriarchy coveted for its self. And to obtain it, they decided that they needed to control the sexuality of women. For, if women were free to have sex with anyone they chose, power would of necessity be transferred through their lineage.7 But if they were shamed and made into chattel, that lineage would rest in the hands of the Patriarchy. Therefore, one of the Patriarchy’s priorities was to target the sexuality of women and make them the possessions of men.8 Thus, oppressing women and usurping their power became a hallmark of Patriarchal culture.
This set the stage for the persecution of the women and their sexuality in the millennia that followed. It reached its zenith in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries in which tens of thousands of women were put to death for “witchcraft” and other alleged “abominations” against the Patriarchal Church.9 The goal was to subjugate women into becoming second-class citizens whose only legitimacy lay with the men who possessed them. In many parts of the world this oppression persists to this day.
As a psychic healer, I have worked with many women who have been persecuted in previous life-times by the Patriarchy. Some were burned at the stake or buried alive. Others were shamed and raped as they were tortured to death in the name of the Patriarchal God.
Many women still carry the pain from these atrocities deep within their unconscious and their very souls.
Now, in the modern western world, the power of women is beginning to return for the first time since millennia long forgotten. But for them to fully reclaim that power, their past pain must be healed.
The following case history is about one such woman. Her name was Laela, and she sought to reclaim the personal and sexual power that was stolen from her long ago. By doing so, she was not only healing herself but other women who carry similar wounds.
The healing of women, is a part of the healing of the planet. The only hope for the future of humankind is to reestablish the values of the ancient Divine Feminine – of love and compassion, the sacredness of life, and the sanctity of nature. And with that, there must be a resurgence of the place of women in society.
Ch 2: Healing the Wounds
The path that every woman takes to reclaim her power must be discovered for herself
Laela’s past-life
One of the atrocities committed against the feminine was deeply etched in Laela’s consciousness. In her current life, the weight of carrying its message of unworthiness and shame was preventing her from fully reclaiming her power. It occurred in a past-life when the ongoing persecution of women had reached a particularly zealous intensity.
The setting was 17th century Europe, when women were being put to death during a general hysteria incited by the Patriarchal Church. In some villages, there were hardly any women left alive between the ages of puberty and old age.
Targeting women in the years of their fertility was not a coincidence – for the Inquisitors of the Patriarchy saw the forces that create life as a threat to their power. It was their intention to create a wound that was so deep and lasting that it would subjugate women forever. Even now, hundreds of years later, the virulent shame they placed upon women still lingers.
For the fanatics of the Patriarchy, killing and shaming women was not enough – for it sought to crush their very souls with its heinous accusations. Thus, they assured themselves that the power of the feminine would never rise again to challenge their tyranny. But this was a power that even all these years of their oppression could never fully erase, for it was the power of life itself.
In her past-life, Laela was among the women who were put to death during this dark time. She and her beloved friends worshipped nature in accordance to ancient customs established long before the Patriarchy ravished the earth. They had prestige in the community by serving as healers, herbalists and midwives. Their time-honored cures were a welcome alternative to the barbaric methods of blood-letting and leeching practiced by the Church – whose sanctioned doctors donned eerie raven masks to protect them from the “evil vapors” that they thought were the cause of disease.
Fearing the rising statis of the female healers, the Patriarchy accused them of witchcraft. It demanded that they eschew their practices and submit to the Patriarchal religion. If they refused to do so, they were tortured to death or burned at the stake. That was Laela’s fate in her former life.
Ch 3 An Inability to Feel
It is the denial of love that splits the psyche apart, and it is by learning to love ourselves that we make ourselves whole.
Laela was a Tantric healer – which meant she gave her clients sexual experiences and tried to support them in spiritualizing the energy. But this latter endeavor was only possible if her clients were interested in something more than just sex – which for the vast majority was not the case. Thus, for the most part, her role was limited to being a sex-worker and providing a few moments of pleasure.
When we were still lovers, Laela had confided in me that she couldn’t feel much sexually. This lack persisted no matter what lover she was with or even if she was trying to pleasure herself. Her body’s unresponsiveness upset and confused her. It was quite an irony for someone who did sexual healing for a living! She knew intuitively that she had tremendous sexual power, and yet she couldn’t access it. Intensely frustrated, she yearned to reclaim it.
Knowing that I had clairvoyant vision, she asked me if I could help her find the cause of her problem. I think she must have known that she had childhood trauma relating to her sexuality. But memories like that are often so painful that they are repressed. Without support they can be difficult to recover. It took courage for her to ask me for help her to remember. For she knew that she would be facing some of the most painful experiences of her life – moments when she was betrayed by the person she trusted most.
But before working with someone, I always considered whether they would be a good candidate for a healing session. Was there a good possibility of success, or were we just going to uncover information that they were not yet ready to face?
I had found that the most important predictor of success in a session was the client’s degree of motivation. It was the vital factor that would determine a person’s healing. If a person was sufficiently motivated, no matter what challenges they were confronted with, they would eventually overcome them. But without motivation, even with all the help in the world, they could never succeed. Laela was willing to do whatever it took to heal. Because of that I felt reassured in proceeding.
Normally, I would never look into a person’s energy field without their permission – for that would be a gross violation of their privacy.10 But now that she asked, I looked within her body to view the memories that were held there.11
Memories of trauma are often held in the body areas associated with the event that caused it. Within her pelvis, I saw a dark cloud, and inside of it there were memories of her father abusing her sexually when she was a child.12
As was often the case when I worked with a client, she spontaneously went into a trance state and saw these memories as well.13
Session Number One: Laela’s Molestation
Ch 4 Memories of Lost Innocence
The consciousness of an innocent baby is like the pristine soil of a garden waiting to be planted. Within that garden is the potential to grow Divine flowers. But there are energies that want to plant toxic seeds. And when they sprout, they will take the garden over, and it will no longer belong to that child, nor will it be innocent, for that private place inside her has been usurped. When she grows up having been so defiled, it may never occur to her that she could heal herself and undo the damage that was done. But if she could somehow know that, then she could reclaim her inner sanctuary, and remove what the perpetrator planted within her. Then she could grow flowers in her inner garden that suite her soul.
Laela’s father was a drug addict and didn’t work. When she was a baby, her mother was hardly around. That left her alone with her dad a lot. He didn’t pay her much attention, except when he was fondling her sexually. He continued this well into her childhood.
Through his behavior, he projected his shame onto her and made her believe that she deserved to be violated. By causing her to believe that, he assured that she would remain a compliant victim. Thus, he emotionally vampirized her, stealing her energy, and appropriated it for himself.
But this was not some malevolent plot that he originated on his own. For he was repeating what had been done to him when he was a child.
If there was an evil design behind it, it did not begin with him, but a force of darkness that was set on usurping each new generation’s empowerment, and preventing the realization of their souls.
Throughout the generations, the exact script varied from victim to victim; but they all had one thing in common – the end result was that the victim came to believe she could never reclaim her power, and that she deserved to suffer.
For Laela, once that was in place, the actualization of her own beautiful and unique nature, free from shame, would become but a distant and unattainable dream. Thus, shame was a devise handed down that kept the next generation psychically imprisoned.
Receiving a parent’s undivided attention is a vital need for children. The emotional requirement of babies for loving attention is so great that deprived of it they may actually die. Research has shown that infants who don’t receive loving touch are much more likely to succumb to sudden infant death syndrome, (known as SIDS) than those who receive it.14 And those who do survive are much more prone to psychological illness.
Another example of children’s existential need for love is a condition known as psychosocial dwarfism. In these cases, some children, even when they receive adequate nutrition, stop growing when they are deprived of love – and quite commonly when love is restored, their growth returns to normal.15
So the point is this – for children, loving touch and attention is not just something that they crave, but actually a requirement for their emotional and physical survival.
Because attention is so important, if it is in short supply, children will manipulate in any way they can to get it. Anyone who remembers their own childhood knows what excellent manipulators children can be. And this shouldn’t be surprising – for it is simply the child’s way to try to get needs met that are essential to his or her individuation.
The less quality attention that is given to a child, the more manipulative he or she may become. And in Laela’s family system, there was very little loving attention given if any. Ideally, the best kind of attention that a child can get is unconditional love, caring touch, and lots of quality time. But if children can’t get love, they will try to get any kind of attention they can -even if it is negative. When it comes to getting a need met, even something warped and distorted is better than nothing at all – and for Laela, the only time anyone was really present with her was when her father was leering over the crib and groping her sexually.
Young children are exquisitely fine-tuned to the emotional tone of their primary caregivers. For Laela, her dad’s emotions were an open book. Although she was too young to articulate them in words, she could feel his dark convoluted shame, and his self-contempt. She took those feelings into herself, because that’s how infants and young children learn – they absorb the emotional tone of their parents.
As she got a little older, say five or six, she began to use the powers of manipulation that every child so innately understands. She noticed what elicited attention and used that behavior to get more of it. And because the only attention that she received was when her father touched her sexually, now she began to initiate this of her own accord. This is how she learned as a little girl to trade sexuality for love.
Now of course, this felt terrible. Even someone so young knew it wasn’t the love that she desperately craved. For to have to exploit, or allow oneself to be exploited to receive love is a violation. A child learns that she is worthy of love when she receives it freely and unconditionally. But when she is abused like Laela was, she learns that she is unworthy.
Even a baby or a young girl can tell the difference between being truly loved and being exploited. But when it comes to developmental needs, a child must make do with what is available, even if it is a twisted perversion of real love. And so, Laela went with it, as any young child might in order to survive.
By the time Laela was nine or ten, she wouldn’t allow her father to touch her in a sexual way anymore. But the damage had already been done. She had irrevocably learned that the only way to receive love was to prostitute herself. In her heart of hearts, she didn’t believe that she could ever receive love in any other way.
When Laela began to remember her childhood violations, she didn’t understand at first how they had conditioned her to become a sex worker. Many were so painful that they were deeply repressed, or occurred when she was too young to recall them. But in spite of that symptoms of abuse still rose to the surface, crying out to be heard. One of the ways they did that was by creating the disfunction that prompted her to ask me for help.
During our first session, she began to have clear and lucid memories of her abuse. They brought up an avalanche of feelings, and at first, she needed a lot of support. Because I had been through similar abuse myself, I was able to witness her with deep compassion. But it would be a long road of healing before Laela would be free of what her father did to her.16
Session Number Two: A Past-Life Wound
Ch 5 Introduction
In the next session that we conducted, Laela remembered a very deep past-life trauma. I feel that session was of great significance because it was not only important to Laela’s healing, but also to a collective wound of womankind.
When I give sessions as a seer, I not only witness the memories of the client, but experience them as if I were going through them myself. If the session involves a past-life, this will bring me back in time to the period in which the events occurred. When this happens, the focus of what I receive is limited primarily to what is relevant to the healing of the client. This provides the emotional tone and context that helps me to understand what the client went through, which in turn helps me to support them in their healing process.
Ch 6 Burned at the Stake
In the realm of Spirit, there is no such thing as time. One’s soul can effortlessly visit previous lifetime to receive information it needs for its healing and spiritual growth.
In the second session we conducted, Laela was reliving the terrible shame her father put upon her when he molested her as a child. Then, suddenly she began to regress to a past-life memory. Because of the clairvoyant connection between us created in the session, I experienced the scene with her.
The time was medieval Europe. It was at the height of the Patriarchy’s campaign to eradicate the power of women and seal their fates as the subservient possessions of men. The form this campaign took was the female holocaust in which thousands upon thousands of women were persecuted and burned at the stake.
The crimes that Laela was accused of were expressing a power that was her age-old right – asserting her sexual freedom, using herbs to heal the sick, and revering the Sacred Divine Mother, whom she saw as the Goddess that brings forth life. Because of these heresies she was to be tried for witchcraft.
The witch burnings were so wide spread that in some villages there were no women left alive of childbearing years. Women in this age group were persecuted because their sexual power was considered an abomination – the cause of original sin and a desecration to the sacrosanct purity of the Patriarchal God.
Witchcraft was the catch-all term for refusing to submit blindly to the bazaar ideologies of the Patriarchal church. In this former life Laela was tried by a tribunal of pious zealots dressed in the ominous black robes that signified the high church’s authority to murder whomever they chose. Amidst the jeering insults of a frenzied mob spewing obscene words of shame, she was sentenced to suffer an agonizing death and eternal damnation. The punishment was to be carried out without delay lest she further defile the pristine purity of the congregation with her apostacy.
The proof of her guilt was that her herbal treatments were more successful at saving lives then the ineffective and dangerous medical practices mandated by the Patriarchal church.
In addition to that, she had dared to take a lover who was not the husband-to-be that the church had ordered her to marry against her will. That she would express her sexual freedom in this way was considered a direct threat to the authority of the church. For the Church reserved the sole power to require women to marry whomever it dictated; the desirability of the bride being in direct proportion to the size of the bribe the suitor was willing to pay to the Church coffers. The Church would not tolerate any challenge to its moral authority or its cash flow. And so, because of the flame of love that burn so brightly in her heart, the Church declared her a harlot and a whore, and rained down upon her the full wrath of their righteous God.
And the last and final proof of her witchcraft was that she held the beautiful forest she lived in to be sacred, and communed with the spirits of the animals who were close to her heart. In the eyes of the Patriarchy, this was surely an abomination.
Death amidst the agony of fire and the intense shame hurled at her by the crowd was a particularly vulnerable time for a woman’s soul. Our consciousness at the moment of death can be carried into the afterlife and have a major effect on future incarnations. That fit perfectly with the clergy’s plan – which was not just to burn women in that life, but also to wound their spirits as well.
They, in their black inquisitor’s robes, worshipped death, just as surely as the feminine they so despised held sacred the principle of life. *Shame was their most potent weapon in their war against the feminine. Through it they sought to violate women’s souls so irrevocably that they would never recover in this or a future life. In this way they hoped to extinguish the power of the feminine forever.
As she was burned, the crowd pelted her with stones and excrement, but worse even than these were their epithets. In the moments of agony that seemed forever arrested in time, torrents of shame penetrated her spirit – the disowned collective darkness of a psychotic mob. The message of their unspeakable insults was clear – that she was an abomination unworthy even of Christ’s forgiveness, and utterly and totally beyond the pale of love.
In her final moments, her faith in the Mother Divine, and all that was true and holy in her heart was crushed, and she left her body in torment and anguish. The mob’s message of shame was carried with her – etched into her very soul. She would bear this wound with her into future lives where she would be oppressed under its brutal weight, and draw to herself experiences that would repeat that shame over and over. Being molested as a child in her present incarnation was one of them. Verily, it seemed that the Patriarchy had accomplished its goal – to break her spirit in that life and for the end of time.
But there was only one problem with the evil doer’s plan – the human soul cannot be broken. Now, in her present incarnation, she would set herself free from the shame they had put upon her.
The memory of being burned brought up deep trauma for Laela. But it was also a relief to finally confront it so that it would no longer haunt her from the unconscious mind. And in the vulnerable moments of her recollection, it was healing to be witnessed with deep love and compassion by myself and the Guides who assisted in the session.17
The Guides spoke these words after she remembered the terrible scene:
“There was a conscious agenda against your power. Your persecutors tried to shame you so deeply that you could never release it. They did this because they were ignorant and feared your light.”
And then they spoke these words of comfort, to help heal the trauma she had been through:
“We’re saying to your little girl (your inner child), to sweet little Laela, we’re here to protect you. We love you and we hold you in our arms. And we adore you and we look into your beautiful blue eyes and say you are the most wonderful child. We so celebrate you and love your power. We want you to be fully in your power.
“Those people who told you to extinguish your power were wrong. They were ignorant.”
And then they reminded her of the beauty of the life she once had, so that she would not carry in her soul only the memories of the violation by which it ended:
“We’re seeing the beauty of the life you once had. We’re seeing birds and a beautiful forest of pine trees, crystal blue lakes and ponds and streams and all the different animals, and we’re seeing a great joy and a goodness in your wonderful connection with nature. And your own beautiful sexuality was a part of that.
“One of the beliefs they projected on you, these so-called Christian dogmatists – (We hesitate to call them Christians but they called themselves that) – was that your relationship with nature and your sexuality was an abomination.
“We’re wanting you, at the time of the ending of that life, to remember the beauty of your soul and the goodness of that life. Those realities will cancel out the toxicity of the beliefs they put upon you. They will reveal the falseness of their projections.”
“We are inviting you to reclaim the truth of that life and let go of the giant lie that was perpetrated. So wrong, so untrue; and yet, what they inflicted on you was very powerful. Receiving those projections at the moment of your death, in such a horrible way, made a deep imprint on your mind.
“We are seeing you pass through the flames, and we’re seeing your spirit in such joy reunited with the elves and the fairies and the spirits of nature.
“We’re seeing you moving on into another dimension. We also see that a part of your emotional or energy body (which you take with you after leaving the physical body at death) – that part of you was terrified and caught in the scene and never fully released it.
“We invite you to go back to the being that you were then, and pick her up in your arms and reunite with her and say – ‘My beloved self, I heal you and make you whole. I erase their projections. They were untrue.’
“We invite you to no longer own what they put upon you. We stand here and witness that their ideas are not true. We celebrate who you are and who you were then – your sacred relationship with nature, your sexuality, your love and your joy.
“We, the angelic beings of both male and female gender, surround you in a circle of love.”
We say, “Laela welcome back home. We empower you in every way.
“We see you ascend and visit another planet at the end of that life. It is an astral planet – a (non-physical) planet made of energy. In that place you experience tremendous joy and love and bliss. We see water shimmering – a waterfall of light. It’s a place made of light inhabited by Angelic Beings and you are one of Them. They celebrate your return and shower you with love. They are love itself, and you are also. You have returned home and the terrible ordeal of that life is over.”
Laela had fallen into a deep trance as she remembered her past-life memories and received the loving words of the Guides. Under Theirs and Stewart’s watchful, loving eyes, Laela gently returned to normal consciousness. Now it would be up to Laela if she wanted to continue her journey to recover the power that had long ago been stolen from her.
Session Number Three – Laela Meets Her Spiritual Guides
Ch 7 The Guides and the Transpersonal State
A note about the transpersonal state in which Stewart conducts his healing sessions
While channeling the Guides, Stewart sets his ego, or personal self aside. This transcendent state allows him to communicate with his own and Laela’s Guides and receive information from the Divine to support her healing. This also enables him to share her consciousness and the visions that she experiences during the sessions. These things play a vital role in enabling Stewart to assist in Laela’s healing. Because of this transpersonal state, Stewart often refers to himself in the third person during the sessions. Likewise, when recounting the sessions, as in some of the passages that follow, he often refers to himself in the third person as well.
Discovering One’s Spiritual Guides
The session begins by Stewart invoking his Guides and Protectors by name. He then asks Laela to do so for hers. She looks at him quizzically, unsure as to how to respond.
Laela – “I have not yet met my Guides, except for one. How do I find out who they are?”
Stewart – “I can share with you what I see in the session that will help you understand who they are. But creating a relationship with them is something you must do for yourself. It is a part of your own unique spiritual journey. After you meet them, you will be able to connect with them whenever you want and they will always be there to guide and protect you. In fact, they have always been helping you, but once you become consciously aware of them, they will be able to assist you much more. The time of that meeting is soon approaching.
“The greatest secret to meeting them is to acknowledge that They exist and call to Them for help. Reach out to Them through the places in your life that create the most love. Pray to Them and They will reveal themselves. Develop a relationship with Them so that in times of need you can call out to Them.
“I can’t do this spiritual work for you, but I can describe to you the Beings of Light that I see around you. You will feel your connection with Them in your heart. So, feel if what I tell you rings true in your heart. If it does, you can own it, and if it doesn’t, you can let it go.”
The Purpose of the Guides As a seeker reaches out to the Light, there will inevitably be dark forces that try to impede his/her progress. For this reason, the Guide’s role is crucial, because They create a field of sacred protection that is inviolate to any energies that might want to interfere with your path. You can call upon them any time you need protection – but because they respect the law of free will, they will not respond unless you ask. When the Guides are invoked, they create safe and sacred sanctuary that is the perfect environment for healing. The healing session we are about to do would not be possible without Their protection.
When it comes to healing, timing is everything Another role of the Guides is as a source of wisdom and information crucial for Laela’s healing. Stewart’s job as the session’s facilitator is to not only access that information, but to present it at the precise optimal moment for Laela’s healing process – for just as important as the information itself, is the timing in which it is brought forth.
Information, even though it be correct – given before the client is ready to receive it in her current state of psycho-spiritual evolution can actually do harm. Thus, in his role as facilitator, Stewart must not only be a channel for the information she needs to receive, but also make sure that it is presented at the exact right moment. Of course, Stewart could not possibly know these things without the assistance of his Guides.
The Guides are Higher Beings of infinite wisdom and spiritual power. They take the form that matches a person’s soul-nature, and they will come to any individual who calls out to them with a sincere heart. They can work through any healer who is willing to completely surrender to the highest good and channel them. This is how Stewart accesses the Divine Wisdom he requires to facilitate healing in the sessions.
It is Laela’s desire to help others that brings to her Divine Grace. Her desire is not only for her own healing, but so that she might help others to heal as well. According to Divine Law, the Guides only support intentions that are for the highest good for all beings. Because her intentions are in alignment with this, the Guides will assist in Laela’s request for spiritual empowerment.
All People Have Spiritual Guides and Protectors Even though most people aren’t aware of them, all people have spiritual Guides and Protectors. Their help is invaluable in the process of awakening. Developing a relationship with them is an enormously important step in one’s spiritual journey.
Along with general over-arching Guides that assist many people, such as Jesus Christ, or Buddha, there are many personal Guides that are specific to each individual. This is because the Divine is infinitely resourceful in reaching out to each person. They can take on unlimited forms in accordance to that person’s heartfelt desires. But whatever form They take, they will always be of the Highest Vibration of Spiritual Love.
For these reasons, one of the greatest benefits of the sessions is to help the client to meet her his/her own personal Guides. Once this happens, she can get the assistance and spiritual information she needs directly from her Guides and the Divine Source within her, rather than use a go-between like Stewart or some other channel to do that for her.
Much of the following session is about Laela consciously meeting many of her Guides for the first time, and the amazing transformation that takes place as a result.
The psycho-spiritual elements of sexual awakening At the time the following session took place Laela and Stewart were no longer lovers. Although the session created a profound sexual awakening for Laela, no sexual touch was used. Nor was such touch needed – because the primary obstacles to Laela’s sexual empowerment were emotional wounds that were blocking her sexual energy and preventing its flow.
All healing involves the free and unobstructed flow of energy throughout the body and its corresponding psychic field. This is especially true of sexual empowerment – for the experiences of joy, pleasure and orgasm are the epitome of the free flow of energy. Because unresolved psycho-emotional wounds can obstruct the movement of energy in the body, sexual issues can often be resolved through deep psychic healing work. Conversely, if the psyche is not healthy with regards to intimacy and sexuality, no amount of physical stimulation can bring about a healthy and integrated sexual experience. In short, the first and primary elements of human sexuality are the mind and spirit.18
This is not to say that sometimes a “purely physical” sexual experience cannot be of great healing benefit. Rather, it is to say that the fully integrated human sexual experience involves every aspect of the self – body/mind/spirit. For this reason, sometimes psycho-spiritual healing is a vital part of sexual awakening.
Ch 8 Creating Intention
Laela – “Since our last two sessions, I feel that a lot of pain has been resolved relating to my molestation and the shame they put on me in my past life. I have been experiencing much more energy in my womb and my sexuality. I am waking up, and it feels really good! I want to continue. I want to reclaim all of my sexuality and power. I want to fully heal.”
Laela’s intentions have become more clear and more powerful. Her determination has grown. She is beginning to get excited about the new empowered person she can become. She’s realizing that the process can be joyful and even fun. She’s reaffirming her intention to heal her sexuality.
Laela continues – “I know deep down this isn’t just for my own healing, but it’s for others also. And it’s also for the children I may have some day.”
Stewart, channeling the Guides – “We see that you will help many people in a very big way. You will have beautiful children, and you’re healing will be an incredible gift for them. We want to help you because you want to help others. That is why we are called to work with you – because by helping you we are helping all the people that you will help. You’re right. This isn’t just for you – it’s for the healing of all people…”
The intentions Laela creates will play a crucial role in the session that is about to happen. They will determine whether Stewart and the Guides will be able to help her, and what information is brought forth. If these intentions are truly aligned with her spirit and the good of all beings, the Universe will gladly assist her. For this reason, it is essential that that they be clear, and reflect her deepest heart-felt desires. Because they will play such a defining role, Stewart asks her to clarify them more fully.
Stewart – “What is it you want to go deeper into? Exactly what is it you want to heal?”
Leala-“I want to heal from the molestation and the violations that were done to my sexuality and my womb.”
Stewart-“Do you still feel that your womb is not as it should be?”
Laela-“Um… (long pause as she focuses within her body…) it feels like it’s getting closer…closer to where it should be energetically.”
The Guides – “We’re inviting you for the next few hours, at least, to let go of the idea that your womb is not exactly as it should be.”
Laela – “Okay I can do that!
My womb is exactly as it should be!” Laela declares with great conviction.
The Guides – “We need you just to be present with what is now and not think about how things were. Right now, everything is in Divine Perfection.
The moment for transformation is at hand. We’re inviting you to forgive yourself and release the shame that was put upon you. Too many women have been shamed and kept down for too long. Do this for the sake of the world, for the planet cannot heal until women heal. And do it for your own sake and for the sake of the children you are going to have.
“In this powerful moment you have decided to create a new beginning, and heal yourself in body, mind and spirit. You can embody your highest potential, and by doing this help yourself and the world. Everything you have experienced up to now was a preparation for this moment.”
There is a long pause in which Laela is realizing that stepping into her power really is possible.”
Ch 9 The Healing Language of the Soul
Every soul has its story. What touches one soul deeply may not have meaning for another. But whatever is sacred for each individual has great healing power for that person. Part of my job as a seer is to find the psychic symbols that have healing energy for my client. These symbols comprise the client’s sacred story, or “soul language.” For Laela, those that held power for her had to do with nature, intimacy and sexuality. The human field is designed to be an integrated whole. Unhealed trauma within the field blocks the free flow of energy and thereby prevents us from accessing our full power. Behind the symbols that evoke great meaning for us are the gateways of healing.
The Goddess of Light
Laela -“It’s powerful to be remembering who I really am. “
Stewart – “I’m here to empower you to be who you really are… yet I don’t know who that is. This is something you must discover. If you ask, the Guides and the session will support it.”
“Yes,” said Laela, “I would very much like that.”
The Guides – “Then so it is.” – And with that there is a palpable quickening of spiritual energy.
Stewart – “Earlier you said that you have only met one of your Guides. Which one was that?”
Laela – “She is a magnificent Being of light. I simply call her the Goddess.” Last night I found a picture that reminds me of her. She had the body of a woman and the face and wings of a hawk.”
Stewart – “Then you are truly blessed.”
Stewart knows that Laela is speaking of the Egyptian goddess Isis, who sees clearly all things in this dimension and journeys fearlessly into the underworld. There she finds her beloved and heals him of his wounds and restores his life.
Everything about Isis is numinous with symbolic meaning. Her continence as a hawk depicts clear psychic vision. Her mythic journey into the underworld represents the exploration of the unconscious to find psycho-spiritual realization. The resurrection of Her beloved symbolizes the awakening of the True Self. Through Her compassion, She protects all beings through the cycle of death and rebirth as we evolve into ever higher expressions of our soul nature.
Clearly, this Goddess represents an aspect of Laela’s spirit. It foretells that she will gain great wisdom, and compassion, and will help many people to heal.
Laela’s Hesitation Stewart – “Spiritual empowerment is about embodying the true nature of your soul. Isis expresses that for you, Lalea. And yet She is a part of your nature that you’re hesitant to embrace. I notice that when you think of Her, you become very grave and serious.”
Indeed, it is as if Laela is afraid to fully feel her attunement with the Goddess, because she feels that it was the reason she was burned at the stake in her past-life.
“But I remind you that time of persecution is over. I invite you to let go of the fear. For the transformation you seek can only happen if you feel safe and relax. I invite you to connect with your intuition. It will keep you from harm and show you what is an illusion and what is real. What happened to you is in the past, and now it is time for you to reclaim your power.”
Laela looks into her heart and sees that these words are true. She relaxes, and a gentle smile appears on her face. She realizes there is nothing to fear.
And then Stewart invites her to take the next step.
Stewart – “How would you like to invite the Goddess into your body?”
Ch 10 The Hawk Priestess
At first Laela hesitates. “I don’t feel worthy,” She says.
Stewart – “No one is unworthy of the Divine. We can all be channels if we open our hearts. You have been a vehicle for Her in many lives. I am inviting you to return to Her, for She is the source of your power. Just surrender yourself and let Her come through you.”
Laela lets go of her hesitation and opens her heart to the Goddess.
It is then that Stewart sees Laela as a priestess embodying the Goddess. Her face has merged with that of a hawk. She is very graceful and powerful. She has great clarity of vision. There is fierceness to that vision, as if it is a knife cutting through all illusions.
She stands on a dais, which is turning clockwise to face all directions. Her consciousness is reaching out blessing all beings and all planets – all places in the universe. She is loving but also ruthless. By ruthless, it is meant that the laws of cause and effect that She works through are spiritual laws and impartial. Her Energy supports the spiritual growth of all beings.
It is very significant that the Goddess Isis is the first vision of Laela’s Higher Self shown in the session. It represents an expression of her power that she disowned long ago when she was so brutally shamed for it in her past-life. But this is the source of the power that she has asked to reclaim.
Images of the Soul That power emanates from her Higher Self or Soul. The images of the Higher Self are constantly changing, yet there is always a relationship between them, like different facets of a diamond. When Stewart shares a vision of someone’s Higher Self, it is not meant to limit a person just to that one description, because what is seen is merely one aspect of their multi-faceted soul. The soul is ever-expanding with infinite expressions.
Now the vision shows Laela in her human aspect putting on the luminous ceremonial costume of the Hawk Priestess. This is symbolic of the role that Laela’s human self will embrace in the future as a channel for the Goddess’s love. By being a vehicle for Isis’s love and compassion, she is serving existence on a very high level. Lacey’s luminosity in the vision represents her very high spiritual realization.
The Goddess’s love fills Laela and pours through her, and she is one with Her power. Her consciousness merges with all the sacred directions. They symbolize, earth, air, water, fire and either – the primordial elements of creation.
Ch 11 – The Animal Spirits
But as powerful as She is, Isis is not Laela’s only Guide. As others begin to appear, Laela feels a deep sense of comfort and joy. They are in the form of animal-spirits, and there are many of them. Among them are bears, bison and wolves. Because of the clairvoyant bond created by the session, Laela and Stewart experience this vision together, as they do for all the visions of the session.
Indigenous tribes-people from cultures around the world also appear. Some are Native American and some African. They and the animal-spirits form a circle around her. There is a deep intimate kinship between these peoples and the animal-spirits.
Sacred Space It is Stewart’s responsibility, as well as that of the Guides, to keep Laela safe during the session. To achieve that, a sacred space must be created that is sacrosanct from any energies that might want to obstruct her healing process.
Stewart speaks, channeling his Guides – “The tribes-men carry spears and shields which are symbolic of protection. These dharmic warriors are there to protect sacred space, and would never harm out of anger. They will only allow beings to enter the circle who support the highest good.”
Divine Spirit puts a bubble of golden light around Laela and Stewart. Stewart invites Archangel Michael and all the Angels and Higher Spiritual Beings to come within the circle.
All Higher Beings respect psychic boundaries because these are necessary to support the Universal Law of Free Will. Those entities that do not respect psychic boundaries are not allowed in, for such intentions are not of the Light. Only those are welcome that truly support Laela’s healing intention.
Ch 12 The Wolf
“How often have occult forces, charged like magnets, invisibly, inexorably contrived to draw everything toward them. So I, imbued with faith and love, hold as my creed implicitly, infallibly, that all extol the power of Eros’ name.” Quote by Pietro Dela Vigna19
Now from amongst the animal-spirits a Wolf comes forth. “The Wolf is wanting to enter my body.” Stewart says.
At first Laela looks a little nervous at this prospect. But then she nods her head ok.
Stewart is also hesitant about this request from the Wolf. Stewart is cautious about allowing any being to enter his body. He knows all too well how harmful that could be, if it is not truly a being of the Light. As always when there is doubt as to whether it is safe to proceed, he silently asks his Guides. To his surprise, they immediately say yes. And so, he agrees.
At first Stewart finds the transition quite awkward as he struggles to let this wild creature come through him. Stewart and the Wolf, it seems, are profoundly different beings. Slowly a rather befuddled look appears on Stewart’s face.
“I… uh… feel myself becoming the Wolf. It’s a little difficult to find words…”
Laela finds Stewart’s transition to becoming the Wolf quite hilarious, and begins to laugh. After such intense emotional work, some comic relief is much needed, and this definitely provides it. It is amusing to watch her once in-control healer at such a complete loss.
Even though Stewart if facilitating the session, he is definitely not immune to having his own neurosis. He has an overly rigid sense of self control which was originally developed as a psychological defense to stave off the madness of the family system he was raised in as a child.
Developmental adaptions from early life have a way of taking center stage in the adult psyche. He now takes almost obsessive pride in trying to maintain a carefully orchestrated orderly mind. But it is obvious to him that the Wolf threatens to undo all that with a sly wink of His eye.
The Wolf for his part, doesn’t give a jot about Stewart’s artificial sense of order. He is a wild creature, and the psychic constraints humans create for themselves are for Him a bazaar maladaptation. He knows that such things, like a self-created cage, are antithetical to psychic freedom. They prevent one from being fully present in the here and now, which is the Wolf’s domain. And so, He quite enjoys dismantling such illusions any chance he gets.
For this reason, it seems that the psyches of Stewart and the Wolf couldn’t be more incompatible. And yet in spite of this, (or perhaps because of it), Stewart finds himself inexorably drawn to the Wolf.
The Wolf is a teacher, and His methods can sometimes be quite mischievous. In this case, He clearly is taking delight in the havoc he is wreaking on Stewart’s psychological crutches. But He also knows that this is exactly what Stewart needs to grow.
And so here they are at an impasse attempting to share the same body – Stewart, inhibited by illusions, and the Wolf – a wild iconoclast whose very nature obliterates such falsehoods. For a few moments Stewart feels like taffy being pushed and pulled by these seemingly irreconcilable forces. This “wild thing” threatens to undo parts of his reality he holds dear.
But although the Wolf exists outside the limits of his psyche, Stewart yearns to expand his to include Him. He realizes that He has a wisdom that speaks to his spirit. Although the Wolf has come for Laela’s benefit, it is apparent that Stewart has much to learn from Him as well.
Meanwhile Laela is still laughing at Stewart’s discomfiture as he struggles to accommodate the wild beast. Finally, at a loss, he silently appeals to his Guides for help – and immediately they provide the grace that allows him to let the Wolf fully enter his body.
Now using Stewart as a vehicle, the Wolf addresses Laela – “Your power is yours to reclaim if you want to. And you can do it in this moment. After all, he says with a wry chuckle and a mischievous smile – I can’t lie to you… I’m just a Wolf.”
Stewart notices that with the appearance of the Wolf, Laela has become much more focused, and the energy of the session has become even more intense. It is obvious that the Wolf evokes great psychic power for Laela. Both she and Stewart feel a surreal stillness that is a harbinger of the Wolf’s magic. It is clear that He will play a crucial role in her transformation.
The Wolf – “The only doubt of what is true is the doubting of yourself. That is a habit… a habit that was given to you as a very uninvited guest. Now it is time for it to leave.”
Stewart, feeling the Guides wanting to come through him, interjects – “Now the Guides want to speak.”
The Guides – “Laela, we want you to understand the great psychic importance of what is happening right now. This Wolf comes as an intermediary so that your powers can return to you. He stands at the doorway to your True Self and offers you the key. What we are creating together, you, we Guides, the Wolf Being, and Stewart, is a magnificent opportunity for you to receive what you have asked for. All you have to do is let the Wolf into your heart.
“You, Laela, have made this moment happen by reclaiming your power as a priestess and invoking your Animal Guides. You have brought forth a part of your power that you have never before experienced in this life.
“Only after that, could this be happening. Right now, these things may not seem momentous, but when you look back, you’ll see this as a turning point in your life. Because the Wolf has come forth, many great changes will unfold. Very many good things.”
Now the Wolf speaks once again – Meeting Laela’s gaze, He asks -“May I move a bit closer?”
Lacey has gotten over her initial trepidation about the Wolf. While she used to fear wolves, she now intuitively realizes she can trust Him. Indeed, an intimate bond seems to be forming between them – she, the woman who has lost her power, and He so at one with His.
Now the Wolf shares from His wisdom – “Laela, our subtlest thoughts shape our reality. All transformation begins with a shift in these thoughts. I’m letting you know that such a change is happening for you right now. Energies are awakening in the innermost parts of your being. Although some are so subtle that you may not yet be aware of them, they are very powerful. Many times in this life, we miss what is happening on this deep level because it’s drowned out by the loudness of our thoughts and sensory experiences. And yet this primal place within us determines our existence.”
Ch 13 The Hunt
“I am a Wolf. The first thing we learn in the hunt is to be quiet – to be still, and notice our subtlest perceptions. But I am not just hunting the prey, I am hunting my thoughts, for through them I can shape-shift my reality. Only in deep stillness can what’s truly happening be observed, and only then can we master our existence.
“Creation itself has its source from the thoughts of the Divine, and we sentient beings are the Divine’s reflection. This is why our thoughts manifest our reality. And this is also true for radical change. We must honor and acknowledge the psychic realities deep within us, for they are the chrysalis from which a new self emerges.
“I am now going to transmit energy to you. As you receive it, you will experience your primal self. You will be one with your natural instincts. You will own your strength, grace and power and the wildness of your being. You will dance with the elements; the sun, undulate with the seasons, and feel the power of nature as a part of yourself. Your sexuality is a part of that power, for it is the sacred energy of life.
“As you connect with the instinctual power within you, you will experience a clarity in every moment. It guides you in all matters, including those that determine the fine edge between life and death.” The Wolf speaks these words with great seriousness.”
But then suddenly with a twinkle in his eye and a mischievous smile on his face He conveys to her a vision. In it he is hunting stealthily in the forest. In front of Him, unaware of His presence, is an innocent wide-eyed deer.
With feigned solemnity he asks Laela, “Will I let that Bambi walk by or does she need to be eaten?”
Instantly, as he says these words, the scene transforms into a cartoon – from the animation Bambi, by Walt Disney.
The life and death hunt has now morphed into a caricature replete with absurd birds tweeting silly melodies. This sudden unexpected shift from the serious to the absurd has an instant comic affect.
Laela and Stewart find themselves contorting with laughter.
Ch 14 The Healing Power of Humor
But besides being entertaining, the Wolf is using humor as a tool support awakening. Through it, He is inviting Laela to be playful and let go of effort. Only then can she receive a message meant not for the intellect with all its artificially contrived beliefs, but for the limbic mind which is the place from which awakening springs. For the limbic mind, like nature, is the world in which the Wolf lives, and by inviting her into it He seeks to heal her and share His wisdom. 20
Only by being fully in the moment – in the eternal flow – can one instinctively know what is right. As a wild creature, he is constantly making decisions – and often his or another being’s life will depend on them. How he acts will determine His destiny and those His life touches – because all beings are interconnected. He is inviting her to step into the moment – because that’s where the power is.
We are all like the Wolf. We all have the choice to become fully present in the moment and embrace our power. We can understand that what we do and what we think shapes our existence – that even the subtlest choices we make affect those around us, and the world itself.
And yet having received this teaching, somehow with Bambi still fresh in their minds, Stewart and Laela still can’t stop laughing.
Everything the Wolf does is for a purpose. He has come forth because Laela has asked for her power and for sexual awakening. Soon she will find out that orgasm, like laughter, is about the free flow of energy. The Wolf’s nature as both primal and funny makes Him her perfect healer.
The Wolf looks at her and his fierce continence morphs into the silliest of expressions. This prompts Laela to laugh so hard that tears run down her face.
Beyond its affect in teaching and supporting sexual energy, humor plays another role in the session. Laughter can be a healing balm and help rebalance the nervous system after the deep emotional work of releasing trauma. Thus, when there is humor, we are often able to experience a much deeper spiritual state.21 This is why many great spiritual teachers, including the Wolf, can be quite funny. And so, the Wolf’s humor is not merely an expression of His irascible nature, but also a tool for supporting realization.
Stewart tries to resume with the session, but Laela is still giggling. This only gets him started laughing again also. Finally, with some effort, Laela manages to control herself.
Now the Wolf comes through Stewart once again. Asking permission gently with his eyes, and through hers receiving it, he places his paw on her solar plexus.22 Laela again slips into a vision.
As He touches her, there is a tremendous transmission of healing energy. To Stewart’s psychic vision, it looks like a bolt of spiritual lightning is entering her body. For a moment, Laela is overwhelmed with ecstasy. Her heart is exploding with joy and her mind experiences an exquisite crystal-clear clarity.
It is a few moments until she is able to speak. You’ve got some powers, huh?” She asks the Wolf.
He only smiles and gives her knowing look.
Then He says, “Your energy flows effortlessly in the higher centers of your body. However, if you wish to have the power you seek, it must move just as freely in the lower ones as well. But before that can happen, all the traumas and bad memories held there must be released. Only then can your sexual power fully return.”
Ch 15 The Path of Psycho-Sexual Empowerment
It should be remembered that Stewart and the Guides have a responsibility to keep Laela safe during the session. They are well aware that sexual empowerment can be a double-edged sword; it can heal, but it can also re-wound. For this reason, the Guides share some words of advice before the session continues further.
The Guides’ Teachings With Regards to Reclaiming her Sexual Power – “Remember the intention you spoke earlier in the session? It was not only for your own healing but also for that of others. This is the most crucial element that will guide you on your path to awakening – that through your compassion, your request for empowerment includes the highest good of all beings. The power of that intention has called to you not only the help of Stewart and the Guides, but the Universe itself.
“Keep those intentions in your heart as you seek sexual awakening. For in matters relating to sexuality, your deepest heartfelt desire will determine what you will receive.”
Sexuality can sometimes bring up deeply repressed psychological wounds
“Sexuality is not just a mere gift of pleasure that has been given to us for our entertainment. It is the very power of creation within us. It is the energy of manifestation, and as such, it not only creates new life, but can bring into being our subtlest thoughts and desires. Because it contacts primal energies deep within the limbic mind, it can bring forth not only joy and love, but also some of our deepest psychic wounds.
“For this reason, when we enter into sexual intimacy, we should do so with deep self-awareness. For if used wisely, sexuality’s power can create love and healing – but if used unwisely, it can create trauma and heartbreak for ourselves and others. Thus, we see that sexuality is a powerful force of manifestation, and to use it rightly, we must always align our heart with the highest love.
“You have asked to reclaim your sexual power. Yet it is the very psychic wounds that you carry within yourself that you have left unhealed, that have shut it down. You must heal those wounds before the full gifts of your sexuality can awaken.
“Sexuality is about the free flow of energy – not just in the genitals but in your body, psyche, and soul. Because it is movement, it brings up the places within ourselves where our energy is blocked. This is particularly true for repressed emotional traumas, which obstruct our life-force until they are healed.
“You have chosen to become close to the Wolf, hence these words we speak. He is a wild creature – a creature of the limbic mind. It is in this aspect of the psyche that the power of sexuality lies, and it is only by delving into its wildness that the true power of sexuality can be known. And just like the wilderness, that power has its joys as well as its dangers.”
The power of sexual healing work. Sexuality accesses parts of the psyche that can be contacted in no other way.
“Because sexuality is one of the core energies of the psyche, it puts us in touch with some of the most primal aspects of our being. This is the place where our deepest memories are held – and also our deepest wounds about intimacy and love.
“Some of those memories may not directly have to do with sex, but rather our feelings of worthiness of receiving love. They may be from early childhood, when for better or worse, we learned crucial lessons about intimacy. These lessons are at the very foundation of our being – for feeling worthy of receiving love is, more than any other element, crucial to psychic health.
“Did our parents and the people around us shower us with unconditional affection or did they violate love’s sacred trust? If it was the latter, the memories may be so painful that they were repressed. Sometimes they are buried so deep that we don’t even know they’re there. Then years later, when as adults we are in intimate relationship, those wounds come up as if from nowhere.
“You are not responsible for the violations that were done to you when you were a child. Nor for all the times that people callously hurt you in the past. But you do have a choice as to whether you carry those wounds inside you now, or seek to heal them.
“When there is a challenge in your intimate relationship that brings up these wounds, you can choose to either blame, or take self-responsibility for the emotions that you feel. Those emotions will show you the places within yourself that you need to heal.
“That is not to say that your partner should never be held accountable for his (or her) mistakes. It is to say, rather, that you are responsible for the feelings that well up from deep inside you, and that the challenges within your relationship will be resolved much more easily if you heal the traumas brought up by them.
“
At first, as you reunite with your sexual energy, you will experience overwhelming bliss. But eventually that energy will reveal your deepest pain. It is then that you will choose to heal it or turn your back on that wild, free place inside you.
“It is by turning away from our pain that we lose access to our power. When we have been wounded and shut down places within us, we shouldn’t blame sexuality’s creation energy, but rather the wounds within ourselves that we have never healed.
“If you choose to leave those wounds unresolved, they can create untold suffering – and can greatly diminish your sexual energy and the vibrancy and joy in your life. They may even lie hidden as the subtle etiological causes of future disease.”23
Stewart – “Our sexuality is deeply interrelated with our life-force. According to many ancient traditional forms of medicine, such as Traditional Chinese Medicine, Ayurveda and the ancient Hawaiian healing tradition of lomilomi, (to name a few), blockages of life force in the body are a major contributing factor to disease. I have personally observed this as a seer in working with clients as well. For this reason, it should not be surprising that because trauma can obstruct our sexuality, and our sexuality is deeply connected with our life force, it can be a contributing factor to the etiology of disease.”
The Guides Continue – “But if you seek to heal your psychic wounds, your self-awareness will grow. Then you will experience ever deeper fulfillment on all levels of your being. It will cause you to bloom in body, soul, and spirit. This is how intimate sexual love can become a path of awakening.
“Unfortunately, however, the path that most people take is not the latter one. By not taking full self-responsibility, they never explore sexuality’s full potential for awakening. It is too painful to face their wounds and much easier to simply blame their partner for having brought them up.
“When we do that, our wounds are never healed and we can get stuck feeling that we are the victim. We find ourselves being re-wounded over and over again in a seemingly endless cycle, and don’t know why.
“Finally, we give up and deaden ourselves to this beautiful impulse – the source of life within us. We live as if half-alive, having disconnected ourselves from the generative principle that is at the core of the psyche.
“And so, we resign ourselves to live as “civilized” beings conforming to a collective norm and shut away the magical wild creature inside us.
“Ultimately, whether we succeed on the path of sexual awakening will depend on the depth of awareness we bring to the situations that trigger our emotions and cause us psychic pain. For sexual energy is like a light that illuminates all wounds that would prevent our unrestrained blooming into love.
“The libido, being the energy of life, is the force that impels psycho-spiritual individuation. But standing in opposition is the deadening power of our psychic wounds and societal pressures that would inhibit us and shut us down. Both serve their purpose – for freedom without constraint would be chaos, yet failure to nurture that wild place inside us would condemn us to a life of self-abnegation. And so, to live in this world as awakened beings, we must strike a dynamic balance between these two seemingly irreconcilable forces.”
The benefits and risks of the path of sexual healing “Because sexuality accesses the core aspects of being – the id; the limbic brain; the animal self, it has tremendous powers for healing. For this reason, doing sexual healing work can produce rapid life-changing transformation. But those gains do not come without risk, for the primal powers of sexuality can do harm as well as heal. Wounds may come up that are simply too painful to process. Then instead of healing, we may find ourselves slipping backwards into re-traumatization and victimhood – and our wounds are only made deeper.
“That is why as you seek to heal your sexuality, you must always go at your own pace. Never let any person or situation push you beyond what is comfortable for you. Always listen to the voice of intuition that speaks from deep in your belly and tells you what feels right and what does not. Take the time to process and understand the feelings that come up, rather than push them aside.
“You have summoned the Wolf so that you can experience your full sexual power. But sexuality, like the Wolf, is a force of nature.
“The Wolf is an edgy Being, and engaging with Him, although it may be blissful at first, will eventually bring you to the edge the abyss. Will you fall or will you fly? The rewards will be incomparable if you succeed. But if you fall, there will be heartache and sorrow. This is not a journey to take until you are ready.
“Where is the safe-harbor in this dance? Let your prayers and loving intention guide you. Your commitment to healing must be strong. You must take full responsibility for the lessons that will come forth – for through them you will reclaim your power.”
Laela listens intently to the words of the guides. But her life-path has brought her to this moment, and her decision is no decision at all. She realizes that her empowerment, more than all things, is what she seeks. She is willing to face any challenges that may come up. She knows that no great power can be claimed without embarking on an adventure – and no adventure comes without its risks. Her success will be determined by the responsibility she takes and her determination to grow.
And indeed, even with its challenges, she sees it as a wonderful journey. Facing and overcoming her fears has given her a sense of exhilaration and freedom.
Ready to move on to matters less serious, she shares with Stewart –
“It makes me laugh to see you shift into the Wolf. He is a funny character.”
Stewart-“It’s funny being the Wolf.”
“Do you feel so giggly often in the sessions?”
Stewart responds – “Do you mean as the Wolf or as the Stewart being?”
Laela – “Both.”
Ch 16 The Trance State
Entering the trance state
Stewart – “Usually there isn’t quite so much laughter in the sessions. That’s because people often come to me because they’re in a crisis in their lives.
“But even so, some moments in the sessions can be very funny, and that’s a part of healing. It’s much easier to enter into a trance state when we’re relaxed – and almost impossible to do so when we’re uptight. That’s because deep healing and the trance state can only occur when the parasympathetic nervous system is dominant.
“Sometimes I compare entering the trance state to putting on a pair of cozy fuzzy slippers. You need to feel very comfortable and safe. So, humor can play a role in helping us to relax so we can transform. When we get really relaxed with each other, such as in a session like this, there can be a lot of laughter. Then doing a session isn’t like work but really fun play.
If the sessions were too serious all the time and never any fun, I wouldn’t want to do them. If it’s not fun, why bother?”
Now with a wink the Wolf responds to her question – “As a Wolf, you make me remember that I like to roll around on the ground which is really fun. You humans take things way too seriously sometimes. And so, I try to make you laugh.”
Now in a change of mood, Laela says to the Wolf –
“Speaking of serious, I used to have recurring nightmares about You – about wolves.
But now I feel joy when I’m around you.” As she says this, her voice lilts with liberation.
“I had secretly asked for things to change about wolves. Now that I am no longer afraid, I realize there has always been a bond between us. You remind me of a part of myself that is playful yet powerful.”
This is a healing moment for Laela. The Wolf, who once evoked her shadow, has now become her dearest friend. And with that her inner Wolf begins to awaken.
Ch 17 The Law of Polarity
Just as the roots of a plant nourish its leaves and flowers, the earth and lower chakras cause the upper chakras to bloom.24 This is why deep sexually intimate love awakens not just our genitals, but all of our being, including our body, our heart and soul.25 To some it seems contradictory that the lower centers of the field such as our sexual and earth chakras would play a vital role in spiritual awakening.26 But because the psycho-spiritual field is created according to the law of polarity it is so.
The Guides speak – “There is a balance between the higher and the lower chakras that is necessary for spiritual awakening. It’s not enough just to bring energy to the higher spiritual centers. The lower ones must awaken as well. The two exist in synergy and balance. The upper ones cannot fully bloom until the lower ones are made whole.
“When you create a garden, you do not neglect the roots of the plants. First, you cultivate the earth so the roots will grow healthy and strong. You nourish the roots, and thereby nourish the plant. Then the plant grows and blooms and creates the goodness which was latent within its seed.
“That’s how it is with spiritual awakening. You cannot neglect your roots – the powerful plexus in the sacrum and anus wherein the earth chakra lies. And you cannot neglect the sexual power, for within it is the power of creation within the human field.”
Up to this point, bringing her full awareness into these lower centers had been very difficult for Laela. Because there was so much trauma and shame there, she had learned to keep her mind away from these places within her body. As a result, she felt little pleasure there, and in areas that should have been erotic, she felt nothing at all. This was particularly true for her womb. It would take great courage to break that pattern and bring her awareness inside it.
But that was what she must do to regain her power.
For those parts of the body that we avoid – that we refuse to be fully present in – will eventually languish. And then we will never experience the blessings that they have to offer, so all-important to our wholeness. Our body – every part of it, is a Divine Blueprint. Realization cannot be attained unless we must bring our consciousness fully into all of it.
But if we hold shame and trauma within areas of it, we obstruct that wholeness and damage our physical and psychic health. To fragment ourselves in this way prevents us from fulfilling our Divine Design, within which every single part of us plays an essential role. Realization is not just dependent on healing our mind and spirit, but also our body. To do that, we must become fully present in every square inch of its physical expression.
Finally, Laela was ready to venture into those parts of her body that she had long abandoned out of fear. Only after reclaiming them, could she receive the awakening that she yearned for.
Now, Stewart places his hand six inches above her without touching – starting at the solar plexus and slowly moving downwards to her womb and then over her genitals and first chakra. His Guides transmit a powerful stream of golden healing energy through his palms.
As the energy penetrates deep into her body, her life-force begins to flow in places that had long been blocked – and where once there was fear, she now begins to feel ecstasy and joy.
The Guides speak softly but with great feeling – “We invite you to feel the huge animal power inside you. Feel it as totally yummy heat. This is the energy to create life, and also the energy to re-create yourself. It is the raw primal power of creation within you.
“We invite you to feel your She-Wolf in your womb and your wild animal desire to make love with your He-Wolf. Feel how it is to draw Him deep inside you, and feel his life-force pour into you and enter your womb. Feel the ecstasy as you merge and become one.
“The power of all nature is within you. We invite you to feel your root chakra. Your anus, your – wolf butt – which connects you deeply with the Earth. By the law of polarity, it causes your upper chakras to awaken and receive the spiritual energy of the Divine like lightning streaking from the heavens. And it keeps you so well grounded in Mother Earth so that you are able to hold this tremendous energy in your body in perfect balance.”
“I’m getting hot,” Laela exclaims, with a joyful laugh.
The Guides continue – “And now we invite you to connect with your beautiful Wolf heart and feel the love of all the natural world that you are so much a part of. Feel your Wolf-Mate and the caribou and the bison, and your heart expanding with love. Listen to the wolves’ howls. And through your howl, connect with all of nature.
“We invite you to return to your solar plexus and feel the power of your breath. The huge vibrant energy of your lungs, as you race across the plains chasing the caribou – your wonderful ability to take in the life-force of nature – and the massive energy you feel. We invite you to merge that Wolf Power with your human existence.”
Laela-“I have this feeling in my womb of being full of the energy of creation and love.”
Stewart-“Now you’re becoming pregnant with yourself.”
Laela-“Yeah this is really wonderful. It is I who set aside my power because I feared it, but now I welcome it back.”
Stewart – “That’s true. It’s your power. Now that you realize that you let it go, you can have it back anytime you want. You’re being drawn to this path by you Higher Self. Now you can own yourself again and become whole.”
Laela- laughing – “It’s a lot of energy! It’s making me dizzy.”
Stewart encourages her to lie down as he remains seated beside her.
Stewart – “Your solar plexus is activating in a huge way!”
“Yeah!” Laela says. “It’s truly amazing!”
Stewart – “The power makes you feel dizzy because you’re not used to how big it is. And yet, according to your potential, that’s how your power should be. The other was a repressed version.”
And Laela says “Yes. I understand that now.”
Then a look of concern appears on her face and she asks,
“But how do you go out into the world this way?”
Stewart- “People will have different reactions. Not everyone will see your awakening as a gift. Some who want you to remain submissive will be uncomfortable with it. But others will revel in the person you are becoming. Old relationships that do not support your empowerment will fall away, and be replaced by new ones that embrace your new self. There are sacrifices to be made when you embody your true self in the world. But living in resonance with the marvelous creation-power within you has its rewards. Through it you can realize your dreams and help people in incalculable ways. As for me, I rarely get to be in the presence of such female power. If I was timid around a powerful woman, I would be now. But that’s not my way.”
Laela – “But most men are put off by powerful women – and even other women can be as well.”
Stewart – “Now is not the time to worry about the future. If you wish to receive the gifts you’ve asked for, you must be fully present in the moment. Then later, you can decide what you’d like to do with them.”
In spite of these concerns, Laela feels an exhilaration welling up inside her. A new self is being born and it feels absolutely amazing.
“Talk about waking up!” she exclaims.
Stewart – “Are you ready to continue?”
Laela – “Yes.” She says, casting aside her worries about what the world will think. Please…let’s.”
The Guides – “We invite you once again feel the energy of the Male Wolf. It awakens the exquisite power of the Divine Feminine in your womb and in every cell of your body.”
And then suddenly feelings of doubt start to come up again, and Laela asks querulously – “You’re inviting me to bring my wolf energy into my womb?”
Even after all she has been through, as Laela brings her attention within her womb, old thoughts of shame come up once again. And that is a natural part of the healing process. For even after we think our wounds are gone, they come up again and again to be healed ever more deeply.
Noticing her shift, Stewart checks in with her, “Are you still feeling good about this?”
Laela realizes that she has reverted to her old pattern of disempowerment. Determined to overcome it, she says with conviction –
“Yes, I want to continue.”
Ch 18 The Mating of the Wolves
As she brings her attention within her womb, she once again feels the wildness and power inside her.
And then the Wolf comes forth. He looks into Laela’s eyes and asks – “May I touch you once again?” And she meets His loving gaze and nods.
As He puts His paw on her solar plexus, His energy fills her body, and Laela is filled with bliss.
Then He says:
“I have put my paw upon you. When the energy of the male and female Wolf come together, their reality becomes manifest.”
The Guides speak softly as she falls deeper into a trance –
“We’re inviting you to remember the full moon when you and the other wolves are howling.”
As the Guides say this, Laela is transported to a beautiful evening in an enchanted forest. She has become a Wolf and is with her Wolf-Mate. It is winter, and they are frolicking in a snowy meadow surrounded by magnificent spruce trees. Above them, the voluptuous moon exudes an evanescent glow. As the two wolves dance and pounce, powdery plumes of snow explode into the air. Laela is so filled with joy that her heart is almost bursting.
The Guides – “We’re asking you to remember your wolf-energy, which keeps you warm under your thick fur, and your huge, huge strength.
“Remember licking your pups. (Stewart makes the whimpering sounds like the Wolf pups.) Remember pulling down the caribou and ripping their flesh and lapping their blood and receiving their life-force in your body. You are one with the power of nature that flows through them.”
And then in the vision, Laela and her Wolf-Lover take on human form. His hair is dark and he is very handsome. And he and Laela are laughing joyously and spinning and making circles in the snow. He is very solid and powerful – very much her match. He looks into her eyes and celebrates her, and she returns his look with absolute joy, and each is a reflection of the other’s beauty.
The wolves and bears and all the other animals gather around in pairs and celebrate that the two have come together. They, and the spruce trees, bear witness to their union.
The rivers, the beasts, and the trees are their beloveds. All this is a part of who they are, and the Angels in Heaven feel their love and are filled with joy.
She and her Beloved make love all through the spring and summer in the beautiful forest. And the place is forever blessed with their love.
The ecstasy of reclaiming parts of herself long lost
And so, finally honoring parts of herself forgotten long ago, Laela feels the incredible joy of being whole.
Observing this, Stewart says- “Wow, your boyfriend is in for something when you get together!”
The Guides say – “We like your wildness. We want you to know that the wildness and the animalness of your sexuality is good. It’s important. It’s part of being complete.”
Laela and Stewart laugh, for they know that the Guide’s words are true.
“Yes indeed,” says Stewart with a smile, “There’s no waking up in the higher chakras without (and he points to the lower parts of her body and makes a growl), an awakening in the lower ones.”
The Guides continue- “We’re inviting you to let the power center in your womb and your sexuality to fully open! Let it shine so brightly that the Goddess feels you in the center of the Earth, and faraway planets can feel it as a beautiful radiant light.
“This is particularly true for the planet you ascended to at the end of your last life, after your power was stolen from you and you were burned at the stake. It is your home away from home in the Universe. The beings there are jubilant to feel you reclaim your power.”
The Guides say – “Don’t hold back. We embrace your power and love it. The power of the Goddess flows through you. It is the energy that creates life and all good things. It feels so good to us and to all the Higher Beings. We’re inviting you to let that beautiful energy grow.
“We invite you to celebrate and embrace this aspect of yourself. We invite you in the days to come to feel your power center and its ecstasy.”
Ch 19 Integration
The integration part of the session is the slow gentle transition from the trance state to normal consciousness.
Goals of the integration phase of the session During the session, Laela has been in a super-conscious state. This has allowed her to have powerful healing experiences, and gain information beyond her normal reality. One purpose of the integration phase is to provide a conscious transition from the trance state to normal consciousness. Another is to support recall of this information so that it can become a part of her normal consciousness. During this period, Stewart and the Guides will act as a “bridge,” helping her to remember and integrate some of her most important healing experiences.
The importance of deep relaxation
The client usually doesn’t realize how deep they have been in the trance-state during the session. This is why deep relaxation is important as they transition back to normal consciousness. This gives the nervous system time to adjust from a super-conscious state to normal reality. Because too abrupt a shift from a deep state to normal reality could be stressful for the nervous system, a gradual shift from that altered state to normal reality is essential.
In addition to this, the period of integration supports the recall of memories and insights that occurred during the session. Otherwise, too abrupt a transition might cause the memories to be lost like a dream forgotten when one awakens too quickly from sleep. For the session to have lasting benefits, recall is crucial. Without it, many of the gains of the session might be lost. Memory is a context related function. The integration phase allows the contextual reference of the mind to gradually shift, so memories can be retained.
For these reasons, Stewart and the Guides hold safe and sacred space during those crucial moments while Laela returns to normal consciousness – so that she can integrate the blessings she has received into normal her life. Only then can they assist her on her path to awakening.
The Guides words as Laela returns to normal consciousness “We’re letting you know that whatever doorways have been opened in this session will remain available to you if you wish them to be. You will have access to parts of yourself that you had previously forgotten. The wonderful Guides and Protectors you have met in this session will continue to support you. Where once there were walls that blocked your energy, now there will be doors which you can open whenever you wish to.
“And now we invite you to gently, ecstatically, reconnect with your normal consciousness. You will feel peaceful and whole as you carry over the memory of your true self into your regular life.
“Your beautiful inner beloved, your animal guardian spirits, and the angels from the planet you ascended to after your previous life – all these Beings will now be a healing presence in your life whenever call upon them.
“You will feel grounded, balanced and joyful as you return to everyday life. You will become fully present in your body and in your current life and know that all the bad things that happened in the past are over. You can celebrate this life and be the joyful, brilliant, delightful being that you are. Bears, Bison, Hawk, your Beloved, and we your Guides, hold you in our arms. We hold you close, we celebrate you, and form a protective golden bubble of light around you as you return to normal consciousness.
“We’re going to be quiet for a few moments and hold space for you while you rest… We invite you to relax deeply at this time. If you fall asleep that’s okay.”
Now there is silence for a while as Laela rests.
The Guides again speak – “When the session ends, the connections that you have experienced will not be gone. For indeed, the wonderful things you have experienced are a part of your true self – and now that you have experienced them, they will remain with you forever.
“What we wish most to convey to you is the beauty of who you are. We celebrate who you’ve been for so many lives – how you’ve cultivated the love in your heart and your beautiful relationship with the energies of nature, and with the Earth whom you see as a Living Being. She takes from you that which you want to release, and comforts you as if She were holding you in Her arms. That’s your relationship the Earth, your Mother.
“In the days to come, the energy in your cells will be quickening. It will be an exquisite feeling – a gentle luminous joy that will grow supported by the spirits of nature that are all around you.
“You will feel the essence of the beautiful forest – the light of the nature spirits that make all life possible. Your sexual center and power centers will continue to awaken, and with that your womanhood.
“And also, we are seeing a beautiful fairy – she represents your magical connection to the other realms. Next to her is a large red flower – a poppy – it symbolizes your capacity to enter into the magical dimensions inhabited by your soul.
“But most of all right now, we bless the aspect of your Spirit symbolized by the Wolf. You’ll always have access to It whenever you want. This is up to you. It is a gift given to you for you to receive whenever you want it. If you accept it, you will always be strong. You’ll always be sure of yourself and graceful and connected with your instincts.”
Laela feels torrents of bliss rushing through her body, and once again she and Stewart start to laugh with joy.
Then suddenly she turns to Stewart and looks at him and asks. “Who are you that you could give me such experiences?”
Stewart answers – “I didn’t make them happen. What you have discovered was always within yourself, waiting for you. All I did was to help you see what was already there. I offered myself as a vehicle so that the Divine could help you remember who you really are. That doesn’t make me special. The Divine is available for anyone to channel if they wish to.”
As the session ends the Guides again speak –
“And most of all, we witness your Higher Self – so beautiful, loving, sweet and powerful. We see her placing her palms on the top of your head in blessing, filling you with light.
“As you resume normal consciousness, your connection to your Higher Self and the wonderful experiences you have had will remain. All the magic and the beauty you have discovered was always with you – a reflection of your true self. Now that you realize this, you will be able to experience these things whenever you wish. In this session, we have only helped you to reclaim what already belonged to you.”
With those final words from the Guides, the session comes to an end.
Ch 19 Howling
As Stewart opened the door to leave Laela’s house, he was greeted by an enormous full moon just cresting the horizon – and as if communing with the Wolf, all the neighborhood dogs began to howl.
The next day, Stewart called Laela to see how she was doing after the session.
“Oh Stewart,” Laela exclaimed, “My boyfriend came over after you left. Although I used to feel hardly anything when we made love, this time my body was incredibly responsive. I had multiple full body orgasms! I have never experienced anything like that before. He was amazed at the change that had come over me.”
“I’m so happy for you!” Stewart said. But he knew that as wonderful as that was, it was only the beginning of the blessings that were soon to come.
And so it was that Laela reclaimed her sexual power. But that is not to say that she had reached the final destination of her journey. There would still be challenges ahead – and places within as yet to be healed.
Awakening isn’t a linear progression with a beginning and an end. For sexuality is the power of creation itself, and to realize its potential is a never-ending adventure.
Every person has a rich symbolic inner life that leads them to realization. Look for it in the places where you feel the most love and joy. That path is different for each individual. What is yours?
- “Indeed, this theme of the unity of all things in nature, as personified by the Goddess, seems to permeate Neolithic art. For here the supreme power governing the universe is a Divine Mother who gives her people life, provides them with material and spiritual nurturance, and who even in death can be counted on to take her children back into her cosmic womb.” Quote from The Chalice and the Blade, by Rianne Eisler p.19 ↩︎
- “The characteristic absence of heavy fortifications and of thrusting weapons speaks for the peaceful character of most of these art-loving peoples.” “The Vinca, Butmir, Petresti, and Cucuteni settlement areas as well as well as Catal Huyuk and Hacilar are indicated by archaeological evidence that male dominance was not the norm. These last two important centers of civilization showed no archaeological signs of damage from warfare for over 1500 years.” Quotes from Marija Gimbutus, “The Early Civilization of Europe” monograph for Indo-European studies 131, University of California at Los Angeles, 1980 chapter 2 p. 17) ↩︎
- Please note that although I am listing some of the great attributes of female-centric societies, I am not extolling them as a utopia. They had their flaws just like the male-oriented societies that came after them. The female leaders of society still sometimes abused power, and their fertility-based religions had their excesses sometimes bordering on fanaticism. But because they worshipped life, and saw nature as sacred, their values were much more ecologically sustainable than ours are in the present day. Instead of “ruling over” nature and exploiting it, their attitude was one of cooperation and respect.
Nature was for them an expression of the Divine Feminine which stood in stark contrast to the warlike Patriarchal God, whose attitude towards it was more of conquest and exploitation. This Patriarchal attitude, which we carry to this day, has brought us to the brink of global ecological collapse. For this reason, a resurgence of many of the attitudes of the Divine Feminine could play an instrumental role in the survival of our species on the planet. ↩︎ - “At the core of the invader system was the placing of higher value on the power that takes, rather than gives, life. This was the power symbolized by the “masculine” Blade, which the early Kurgan cave engravings show these Indo-European invaders literally worshiped. For in their dominator society, ruled by the gods – and men of war – this was the supreme power.” Quote from The Chalice and the Blade by Riane Eisler p. 48 ↩︎
- The Divine Feminine was the first worshipped deity on Earth. Hundreds of objects depicting Her Form and Its Sacred Life-Giving powers have been found in caves dating back as far as 30,000 years or more. These are known by archeologists as “Venus Figurines.” ↩︎
- “Here it was the women show themselves supreme; they were not only the bearers of children but also the chief producers of food. By realizing that it was possible to cultivate, as well as to gather, they had made the earth valuable and they became, consequently, it’s possessors. Thus they won both economic and social power and prestige.” Quote by Joseph Campbell from his book Primitive Mythology ↩︎
- “Within the very structure of the contemporary male religions are the laws and attitudes originally designed to annihilate the female religions, female sexual autonomy and matrilineal descent.” Quote from When God was a Woman, by Merlin Stone, p. 228 ↩︎
- “The Levite writers labeled any sexually autonomous women, including the sacred women of the temple, as whores and harlots and demanded the enforcement of their own patriarchal attitudes concerning the sexual ownership of women. Once having invented this concept of “morality,” they flung accusations of “immorality” at the women whose behavior and lives, in accordance with their own most ancient beliefs, were of the highest and most sacred nature. ” Quote from When God was a Woman, by Merlin Stone p. 182 ↩︎
- The “Great Burning” spanned from the 15th to 17th centuries in Europe. During that period, it is estimated that up to 100,000 women were burned as witches. ↩︎
- The law of free will applies to all conscious beings within the cosmos. It requires that no being or entity enter the energy field of another without their permission. To do so would interfere with his or her free will. This is why it is so important that we honor the psychic boundaries of each other – and also why it is essential if we want spiritual help or Divine Intercession, that we must ask for it. No Being of the Light will enter the field of another without such permission. Ignorant or dark beings, however, do this far too often, invading another’s psyche to exploit them and fulfill their own agendas. ↩︎
- One might ask how I could access the memories of another by looking into their body? Memories are held throughout the body and its corresponding energy field. The energy field, is the “psychic blueprint” of the physical body. It contains thoughts and memories pertinent to our psycho-spiritual evolution. Each part of the physical body has a correlation with a part of the energy field. This is why a person with clairvoyant vision can look into the body/energy field and witness the thought-forms stored there.
At death, the body perishes, but the energy field (also known as the energy body, or astral body), does not. Thus, memories that are important for one’s spiritual evolution can be accessed in future lives. This explains how past-life memories are carried from one incarnation to the next. ↩︎ - Places within the field where the energy is blocked commonly appear as a dark cloud or shadow to psychic vision. This blocked energy often corresponds to unresolved trauma which are held in the part of the body associated with their memories. Until the trauma is released, it can impede the flow of life force in those areas. That can create symptoms in that body area such as numbness, discomfort or chronic pain that does not respond readily to conventional treatment. Eventually it can lead to serious or even life-threatening disease in the affected area.
Science used to believe that memories were stored only in the brain. But new research is proving what shamans and seers have known since ancient times – that memories can be held in any part of the body.
Evidence for this was presented by Dr. Candace Pert in her book Molecules of Emotion. Dr. Pert discovered the neuropeptide link through which internal organs give and receive messages relating to our emotions. It is not a stretch to conclude that not only the organs, but all body areas are neurochemically linked with our emotions. In fact, wholistic healers are quite familiar with this phenomenon and call it “somatic memory.”
By blocking the flow of energy, repressed trauma can become an obstacle to achieving our physical, psychic and spiritual potential. Although recovering such memories can be emotionally painful, bringing them to conscious light frees us from the toxic power they have over us. ↩︎ - No drugs or hallucinogens used in my sessions. - For those who think that sexuality is a purely physical thing, it is interesting to note that sexuality still exists on the higher spiritual planes where beings no longer have physical bodies. Instead, they inhabit bodies made of light. In higher (heavenly) existence, there are still beings of male and female gender, and they are still drawn to bring their light-bodies together and merge in ecstatic bliss. And so in a very real way, it can be said that sexuality still occurs in the heavenly planes.
What is the higher purpose of this? It is because, through their deep intimate connection and love, souls can impart upon each other amazing gifts. (The same, of course, can also be true for physically embodied romantic love when it is absolute and unconditional.) In this way, through merging their energies in love, souls help each other to grow in quantum leaps and bounds.
The law of polarity is the principle of opposites through which the universe was created. These opposite energies are drawn together so that through their merging, they can reunite with Divine Source. This law creates the attraction for male and female beings (or stated on an impersonal level, energies of opposite charge) to come together.
On the microcosmic level, it is the inexorable attraction of non-sentient protons and electrons. On the macrocosmic level, it is the attraction between souls that causes them to merge in Infinite Love. Every single part of creation is an expression of the Universal Consciousness of the Divine. When two beings come together in absolute love, they taste the bliss of the Universal Mind, for that Mind is Love itself. ↩︎ - Quote by Pietro Dela Vigna is from The Universal Myths by Alexander Elliott p.167 ↩︎
- “When you laugh, aside from the endorphin rush, there’s a spiritual opening. You’re not so tight inside yourself. That opening I’ve found to be a real gift in people being able to absorb spirituality.” Rabbi Sydney Mintz ↩︎
- An example of this is the Buddhist practice of laughing meditation. In it, Buddhist monks, in spite of their austerity and discipline, are instructed to spend a part of each day laughing. This practice reflects Buddha’s revelation that discipline is not enough, but there must also be ease, grace, flow and levity. He understood that laughter plays a key role in the path to awakening. ↩︎
- The solar plexus is a powerful energy point at the vee of the ribs. There are two primary power centers in the body – the upper center in the solar plexus, and the lower center below the navel, which is referred to by Eastern adepts as the 3rd chakra or dantien. ↩︎
- “… Those of us who have experienced unresolved personal trauma in our lives carry the seeds of our own destruction.” Michael Newton PHD
Our sexuality is deeply interrelated with our life-force. For this reason, it should not be surprising that because trauma can obstruct our sexuality, and our sexuality is deeply connected with our life force, it can be a contributing factor to the etiology of disease. ↩︎ - The Earth chakra is also known as the first or root chakra. ↩︎
- The Divine created the human field according to the law of polarity. Thousands of years ago, the Hermetic school of philosophy described this principle with this classic aphorism: “As above, so below; and as below so above.” Through this they observed that polarity is one of the fundamental laws of creation. This is also a principle in Tantric and Taoist philosophy.
In recent times there have been a number of eminent people who have also expounded that principle:
Randolph Stone PHD, a great naturopathic healer of the 20th century, used the principle of polarity extensively in his work. He showed that the human physical and psycho-spiritual potential can only be realized by balancing and integrating the opposite energies contained respectively in the higher and lower centers within the human field. The famous psychiatrist C. G. Jung, described enlightenment as the unification of the opposite yet complimentary energies of the psyche. He referred to these as the anima and the animus. In literature, the great 19th century mystical poet, William Blake, wrote of the “union of the opposites” – two disparate seemingly opposite energies – one exalted and of heaven, and the other animalish and of the earth. He said that when these were brought into synthesis, they created spiritual awakening. ↩︎ - The anus and the sacrum are the physical analogs of the earth chakra. Because of shame and cultural taboos associated with the anus (witness the story of Sodom and Gomorrah, and the fact that until fairly recently sodomy was a crime punishable by imprisonment or even death), it is hard for many to believe that it contains a chakra with a profoundly spiritual purpose. In fact, it is the seat of the kundalini, which is the very energy that powers spiritual awakening. As the kundalini rises up the spine, it illuminates all the other chakras and awakens their Divine potential. ↩︎
